Brad Stevens commented the gesture made by Marcus Smart who gave the Celtics crowd the middle finger after missing a three-pointer.
Per MassLive, Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens called Marcus Smart’s middle finger salute “unacceptable” if indeed the guard delivered the obscene gesture as he appeared to do late in Game 2. Midway through the fourth quarter of Boston’s 111-97 loss to the Chicago Bulls, Smart appeared to follow a missed 3-pointer by flipping off a fan. Video of the clip shows Smart following the gesture by pointing in the direction of the crowd then lifting a finger to his lips as if to quiet a fan.
“Obviously, I’ve been told of the gesture. I saw a brief video clip of it but, from my clip, from the angle that I saw, I couldn’t tell. But obviously if he made a gesture, it’s unacceptable and that will be handled by the league.
