With Jason Kidd heading to the Bucks, the Brooklyn Nets are seeking the market for a new head coach.
Former Memphis Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins – who had been considered as an early season replacement for a foundering Kidd – is a strong candidate to be considered for hiring as the next coach, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.
Another serious candidate is Ettore Messina, source told Sportando. The Italian coach left CSKA Moscow after two seasons and was expected to join Gregg Popovich's staff in San Antonio. But Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov is a fan of CSKA Moscow with whom Messina won the Euroleague title a few seasons ago. Two years ago in Istanbul during the Euroleague Final Four lost to Olympiacos, Prokhorov was cheering for CSKA Moscow in a royal box.
The next days will be decisive for the Nets to hire a new head coach.
Mark Jackson and George Karl are two other names for Nets head coaching job, according to multiple reports.
