Montepaschi Siena won its fifth consecutive Serie A on Sunday but, less than 24 hours later, is already working on the roster for the coming season.
Mens Sana is close to signing Kristjan Kangur from Cimberio Varese. The Estonian forward should sign a three-year deal with Montepaschi who will loan him the first year (as Siena did with David Moss who will leave the team). At the end of the next season, Montepaschi would bring him back as replacement of the captain, Shaun Stonerook, who will turn 35.
Kangur averaged 9.8ppg and 5.4rpg in his first full season in Italy (he finished the season 2009-10 with Virtus Bologna).
But the main target for the summer market is to bring back David Andersen. The Australian center spent the season in NBA between Toronto Raptors and New Orleans Hornets playing 40 games averaging 3.4ppg and 2.1rpg in less than 10 minutes per game). David Andersen is also targeted by Olympiacos who offers him more money than Siena, money that did not help Reds to win in the last years. So, David Andersen has to make his decision between Montepaschi Siena, in a city he already knows and in a roster where he can be one of the leaders and Olympiacos, a team full of stars but not able to break the predominance of Panathianikos, but where he can gain a lot of money.
If David Andersen will return to Siena, Milovan Rakovic will likely leave the team. The Serbian center played just few games in the playoffs due to a minor injury and bad performances in the final part of the season.
